SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY! Our 7-week Fall series is underway! It is entitled Old Self…New Self. In this series, we are examining the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. We enter new life in Christ just as we are, saved by grace. By the very presence of the living God now dwelling within us, we begin to change into his image! While only God can cause this growth, we are called to work with the Spirit in this lifelong process of transformation. Where are you in this process? Using Ephesians 4-5 as our text each week, we will gently and courageously look at our “old self” compared to our “new self” in light of our ultimate goal of walking and talking like Jesus. Each week we will look at the spectrum of negative versus positive habits and Biblical characters who displayed them. Come with open hearts to the ongoing work of the Spirit who is transforming us into Jesus’ image with ever-increasing glory! Please join us on Sundays at 8:45 a.m.
MIDWEEK POTLUCK/BIBLE STUDY! Join us every Thursday at 6 p.m. We will share a potluck meal and then break out for Bible Study from 7-8 p.m. Hope to see you all there!
Potluck Details: If your last name begins with A-K, please bring a main dish; L-R, please bring a side dish; S-Z, please bring a dessert.
Bible Study Details: Come join your Midway Family as Gerald MacDicken continues this inspirational journey through these beautiful and inspiring psalms of praise, thanksgiving, and lament. Participants are invited to rediscover, or see for the first time, why you can put your hope in Jesus, the Shepherd, Savior and King! If you have any questions, you may email Gerald MacDicken @ scotch51g@yahoo.com.
INVITING ALL WOMEN!
Women, you are warmly invited to MUG ‘N MUFFIN next Wednesday, September 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall! You have a story; sharing that story with others is a powerful experience. You will have an opportunity to create your own Storyrope from fabric provided for you. Then, while enjoying hot beverages and warm muffins, we will share our stories using our personal Storyropes. We will also discuss desires and preferences for ongoing Bible study together. RSVP to Ruth Hill.
DIGGING DEEPER… How much do you remember? Fill in the blanks from the box below. • Last Sunday, Pastor Shaun preached from Romans 14:1-13. He reminded us that the Christian _ is all about love! • He said our _____ with one another are to be characterized by godly love. • What does that look like? It’s an ongoing commitment to fellowship with and minister to each other. • It means listening to and _ for each another. It means giving and receiving encouragement. And it’s judgement free! • In fact, to obey God is to relate to others with love and to to judge anyone except ourselves. • Verse 13 says, “Stop condemning each other!” James 4:12 says, “There is only one Judge, and He has the power to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge one _?” • Pastor reminded us that we will all stand before God to give account of our lives. He is our Judge. • Regardless of where people are at in their Christian walk, we are to accept them where they are at and patiently encourage them. 1 Corinthians 13 says, “Love is patient, kind, not easily angered, and keeps no record of .” • May we look for every opportunity to build each other __ in love!
