Over 90 people gather last Saturday to celebrate the installation of the solar panels! The abundant food was provided by all four of the church partners and represented the richness of the various cultures. Women from the Marshallese church sang and then honored our ten guests, representatives from our community partners who supported our grant application, with a cultural headband or necklace. Each community partner was thanked with a small gift later in the program and given an opportunity to speak. With Des Moines Mayor Traci Buxton holding one end of a red ribbon and Puget Sound Energy’s Heather Mulligan holding the other end, the ribbon was officially cut by Pastor Shaun!
Mayor Buxton was quite impressed with the event and wrote about it in the Des Moines Community Group on Facebook.
