The Drive-By Welcome Reception for Pastor Deb is This Sunday!

Pastor Deb arrives Saturday afternoon, May 30! Come on out Sunday afternoon at 2 PM to welcome her with a Drive-By Welcome Reception. Join the parade passing in front of the church’s entrance doors and when you are across from where she will be standing, greet her and show her your sign with your name on it. She will be so grateful to see you, and by taking a quick pic on her phone, she will be able to connect names with faces. This will also be a great time for our Midway Family to see each other after such a long absence! Some are planning to park their car and walk pass the church entrance, so that from a safe distance of 6’ apart they can actually chat  with others.

Youth Minister Update

This month in Youth Ministry I’ve been working really hard to connect with all of our students through different platforms. One of the ways I’ve been doing this is through online gaming, virtual hangouts via Google Meet, & others through Zoom for paint & craft “parties”. Each week I have been posting “devotional” videos for students to watch & I have been engaging with students about them. YM may look different at the moment but ministry is still going strong and we are preparing for when we can physically gather again. 🙂

Waterland Festival Parade

The Des Moines Waterland Festival parade in downtown Des Moines will still be held!  This year, due to COVID-19, the parade is going to be a virtual parade. Our own John DeLong is a member of the Waterland Festival Parade Organizing Committee and responsible for contacting area churches. Each church in Des Moines is invited to be part of this year’s parade by submitting a very short video clip as if it was in the parade. It will be a great opportunity for our church to demonstrate its support of this community-wide event.  Interested in being part of this effort? Please let Ruth Hill know

On May 27, new guidelines for Faith-Based Organizations were released, outlining requirements that must be met for outdoor and indoor gatherings. Click here to read the full document. The Leadership Team will be processing this, and, with the health of our people the top priority, be determining how to move toward regathering.
